Fraser, Claud Lovat

Tagged: Artist.

(1890-1921) UK illustrator, involved for much of his short life with the Curwen Press; he died of heart failure after an operation. He worked in woodcut and in pen and ink, with wash effects and sudden touches of colour; the effect was of a small exuberance. Books illustrated include Peacock Pie (1924) by Walter de La Mare and The Luck of the Bean-Rows (trans 1921) and The Woodcutter's Dog (trans 1921), both by Charles Nodier. [JC]
