Hallucination

Tagged: Theme.

The Perception (in fantasy usually visual, though other senses may be invoked) of an object which does not exist or the experience of a false sensation. In Supernatural Fiction and Horror, plots commonly turn on whether a hallucination is not in fact a hallucination at all but has been created by some intruder into the real world. The structure of fantasy stories does not normally depend on the correct interpretation of hallucination, Illusion being much more common. [JC]
